After marine  shipping, inland waterways is the cheapest way of transportation. According to the in force tariffs, river transportation  is 2-3 times cheaper than railways and much cheaper than air- cargo or automotive.

The low cost of  river transportation is due primarily to the large capacity.

Cargo traffic carried on the Danube has grown year by year, facilitating the transport of large quantities between Sulina /Constanta and countries of eastern and central Europe, like Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia. As well through the Danube can be  transported  goods from the port Constanta.

Among the goods that hold a substantial share on river  shipping  using  barge (sized) are: grain, equipment, chemicals, steel products and construction materials, wood.
